The sellers of the business are a Dutch couple who started it in 1995 in Portugal. Over the years, they have developed a campsite, accommodations, and a restaurant. The campsite offers around 50 pitches. The accommodations include a holiday home, a cabana (a wooden tiny house), two rooms, and two apartments, and there is also a swimming pool. In total, there are approximately 20 beds available.
Guests primarily come from Northern European countries, but also from other continents. The restaurant and swimming pool are also open to people living in the surrounding area, though not on a daily basis. Significant effort has been invested in developing and maintaining all facilities. The necessary permits are in order, and the business operates with an official accounting firm. There is a residential house on the property, as well as an apartment that can be used for private use or as a rental unit.
The business activities include:
The business is open year-round. It is located near the Serra da Estrela Natural Park, which attracts winter guests when snow covers the mountain peaks. The business itself is situated at an altitude of 580 meters and experiences little to no snow during winter. Moreover, travel is no longer limited to just the summer season, meaning there are also winter guests at the campsite. To accommodate this, the sanitary building has been expanded with a new section that can be heated.
The unique selling point lies partly in the location of the business. It is situated in the Serra da Estrela Natural Park, located in central Portugal on the eastern side, with easy access via routes to and from Spain. The area is characterized by pristine nature, with a new landscape unfolding at every turn. Shaped during the Ice Age, it explains the area's ruggedness, making it perfect for nature lovers, hikers, and cyclists seeking a challenge.
Additionally, the region is known for its small, historic villages with a medieval character, as if time has stood still.
The other key distinguishing factor is the level of comfort we have developed across all the facilities and the creativity embedded in their design. Everything is well-maintained and carefully looked after.
The sellers, a Dutch couple, emigrated to Portugal in January 1995 and settled in the village of Nabainhos, in the municipality of Gouveia. They purchased the quinta, or estate, and gradually began developing their tourism project. The beautiful house dates back to 1682. Thanks to the facilities that have been created and the restorations that have been carried out, the original atmosphere of the estate has been carefully preserved.
The decision to sell is driven by the lack of a successor and the sellers' desire to retire.
